The AGS team is excited to welcome Thomas Cannon, Senior Data Scientist, to the team. After collecting a variety of undergraduate degrees in Philosophy and Theology, Physics and Astrophysics, Thomas received a master’s degree in Data Science and Analytics from the College of Charleston. He has worked in various roles as a data scientist and software engineer, most recently at Taiga Data in Austin where he led their data science team. His professional experience includes building enterprise cloud data products and agile R&D teams in the retail, grocery, and restaurant spaces. His management and product development experience arose out of necessity while working for growing companies. Thomas enjoys devising novel solutions to odd problems.
Those in our industry may know Thomas from his time at eSite Analytics as a Data Scientist and Software Developer. At eSite Analytics, he led the development and maintenance of data pipelines that create machine learning models for client site selections. During his time there, he broke the record for the shortest amount of time to visit all 50 states by over half a day.
At AGS, Thomas will be working on our data science team with Gary and Matt. His duties include general demographic work, helping to enhance our data with the use of AI and new technologies, as well as working on our API, Snapshot.
Outside of work, Thomas can be found doing a variety of activities, including surfing, preparing for ultra marathons, or working on science and technology projects in his garage workshop. Thomas lives in Austin, Texas with his wife.
