Quality of Life Index
Understand Where Life Thrives and Why
The AGS Quality of Life Index (QoLI) evaluates the livability of communities across the U.S. using a powerful blend of economic, health, environmental, and lifestyle indicators.
Built for site selection, urban planning, and investment analysis, the QoLI offers a location-specific, data-driven view of what makes a place desirable for work, life, and business.
Each score reflects a range of real-world conditions—from access to healthcare and education to walkability, income, and environmental risk—delivered at the block group level and scalable across standard geographies.

Methodology
The AGS QoLI is modeled using a weighted composite of five sub-indices:
- Economic (30%)
- Community (21%)
- Leisure (21%)
- Health (15%)
- Physical Environment (13%)
Each component is calculated using AGS’s Synthetic Household approach at the block group level and aggregated upward for broader geographic use. Scores are scaled for consistency across states and regions.
