The AGS Religious Affiliation dataset is developed using data from the Religious Congregations and Membership Study (RCMS), conducted by the Association of Statisticians of American Religious Bodies.
AGS applies its proprietary Synthetic Household modeling approach to estimate both formal adherence and broader religious identification across all standard U.S. geographies.
This method allows AGS to produce consistent, neighborhood-level data even for denominations with limited direct reporting.
