For those of us who have spent some time in the industry, you know how quickly you learn who all the players are, especially the heavy hitters. One such pillar of our community has long been Joe Francica, who has worked in our industry since the 1980’s, most notably at Directions Magazine, Pitney Bowes, Precisely, Korem, and CoreLogic. Joe is now Managing Director at his own firm, LocationIntelligence.us (LI), where he is striving to continue innovating in our industry. From time to time, Joe plans to write articles for our audience here, but first, he needs a proper introduction and a look into his current venture.

In his words, his current goal is to “travel the world and promote location intelligence.” With AI changing the scope of our businesses, Joe’s focus is on site selection for AI data centers and AI in real estate. Joe says “there is tremendous innovation happening now not from the traditional players in this space, and it’s happening globally.” He has done extensive research on the players in the AI space, from real estate companies to large asset managers and of course, the big tech companies who are using AI in most of their work.

In addition to that work, he is also a consultant in marketing and custom market research. Many companies do a poor job of launching products into the market, and Joe has become a subject matter expert in location and geography for companies looking to expand their product offerings the right way. Part of his work is focused on venture capital firms looking to invest in location technologies, but don’t have the expertise in the area needed to make an informed investment.

Lastly, part of his goals in promoting LI will be to enlist a business school to take up the charge and create a seminar within the MBA curriculum. Currently, many MBA programs don’t include coursework on location intelligence and geospatial work, despite it being an integral part of business needs. He hopes to change that

We look forward to sharing his words and stories with you on these pages; we know that you will find them insightful and useful in guiding your work during these new and innovative times.
