This week, most of the AGS team attended the ICSC conference in Las Vegas. While Gary, Matt and Mike are longtime attendees, it was my first time attending. While I joined the AGS team in early 2020, the pandemic cancelled the conference the last few years. We had a great week seeing colleagues and friends old and new.

We kicked off the week with an event with our channel partner, Placer.ai. As a partner in their marketplace, you can purchase AGS data and integrate it on the Placer platform. The event had great information for current and potential Placer users, including use cases from brokers, economic development users and researchers. A session of particular interest to the AGS team was one on the Metaverse, and how you can translate online engagement to in person retail visits through things like live streaming, ads and sponsorships. While we all spent some time scratching our heads wondering if we were too late to buy land in Decentraland, it was an interesting look at how data use cases have and continue to evolve.

After the presentations, attendees were able to socialize with the vendors that attended. The picture below shows the AGS team at our table, ready and eager to chat data. It was great way to start off our week!

The show floor opened on Monday morning and we were there right at 9:00 to see our channel partners and head to meetings. We started the day at Sites USA, chatting about how we can continue to collaborate with them. Matt and Gary had been to see them in Arizona a few months ago, but it was nice for me to see their team in person after many zoom calls over the last 3 years. Mike also enjoyed connecting with old friends that he hadn’t seen since he left Arizona for Green Bay.

We ran from South Hall to Central, back and forth for meetings and booth visits, handing out AGS pens and YETI tumblers along the way. We had great interactions with Tango Analytics, GbBIS, GIS Planning, Devonshire Associates and many more of our partners. We talked data, new ideas, ways that we can support our partners as they support their clients and more. Below are some photos from our meetings at the Placer.ai booth and at SiteSeer.

It was a productive week for our team, but we are slightly exhausted from all of the walking and back to back meetings. After a few years of zoom meetings and emails, meeting people in person for the first time was a welcome change. Our team is already looking forward to the next time that we can see everyone again!
